Our Staff

Salem United Church of Christ has a dynamic and gifted staff who provide worship leadership, services, and care to the congregation.

  • Mina Cohen, Nursery Supervisor

    A note from Mina,

I have lived in Farmington Hills my whole life. I graduated from Harrison High School in 2014 and have worked in the Salem UCC nursery since November of that year. While not at Salem, I also work in childcare as a babysitter and nanny, as well as some pet-sitting. I have played the Viola for over 14 years, and currently play with the Orchard Lake Philharmonic. At home, I enjoy moderating on Twitch, making jewelry and metalwork, and spending time with my family and our three cats.I have had a great time working with the babies and kids at Salem over these past 5+ years, and am always excited about continuing that work.

  • Katherine Heath, Minister of Administration

As the office manager, chief administrator to the congregation, and secretary to the senior pastor, the minister of administration is essential, valued, and serves to the glory of God.

  • Karen Metcalf, Children, Youth, & Families Minister

Karen is thrilled to be a part of our family ministry program at Salem UCC. She has a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Human Services and has worked for organizations and youth ministries for nearly two decades. Karen led youth ministries in a Lutheran Church and an Assemblies of God congregation before joining Salem UCC in 2018, where she became active in the Christian Education ministry. Karen met her wife while attending college at Lee University in Tennessee, and they have two wonderful daughters together. She also works full-time in healthcare and enjoys being active in various recreational activities with her family.
